I'm back!
Yes, I really am back. Life has been crazy hectic lately, but it's finally starting to settle down. Finally. And I am SO relieved. These last however many months have been a whirlwind, and it's hard to keep my head on straight sometimes. :)
Danielle is 11 weeks old now. It's amazing how big she is. Remember that picture I posted of when she was first born, when she was in her carseat, with that blue thing around her head to support it? Well, we use that blue thing in her seat that she sleeps in, and she barely fits in it anymore. :) She's such a sweet baby. She finally started smiling a couple weeks ago, which is so nice. It's awesome to walk up to her, and she just breaks out into this HUGE grin. You would think that her face was gonna explode or something if she smiled any bigger. :) Sometimes it looks like she's trying to laugh. It seems like sometimes she tries so hard to talk, but she just can't make any sound come out. It's adorable. There's this thing I do to make her smile, (kind of like blowing raspberries, but different) and she seriously tries to do it back to me. You can see her trying, but she just can't make any sound come out. A couple of times she's tried so hard she's just spit up in my face. :D She sleeps most of the night now. The only times she's awake is when she's eating, and then she goes right back to sleep. Mom still hasn't been able to sleep in her bed for more than a couple nights since Danielle was born, but she'll get there eventually.
Dad's taken this whole week off from work so we can get some projects around here done. The last time he took time off was when we went to California, (right after I started this blog) and I don't even know before that. It may have been when we went to Mexico for my aunt and uncle's wedding back in 2003? Or maybe it was 2004. I'm not really sure. So anyway, it's been awhile. We've spent the whole week working on 2 major projects: a chicken coop, and the garden. The chicken coop is massive. I mean like 10' x 30' massive. I told Dad that if we left the walls off we could have a really awesome ramada. :D The framing is all up, and the roof is almost done. Dad is putting shingles on the roof. I'm not really sure why we're giving the chickens such a special chicken coop that has shingles on the roof, but hey, that's what he's doing. Truthfully, I'm not too keen on having chickens. We used to have them a long time ago, and I really didn't like them too much. There's smelly, loud, and just kind of a pain in the neck. But they give us eggs, so that's fine. :) Mom says we're going to start with 75 chickens. 75. That's a whole lot of chickens. I'm not sure when we're going to get them though. We're in a rush to get the chicken coop done because it's supposed to rain on Tuesday, (YES!!!!!) but we're not in that big of a hurry to get the chickens.
Our other project is the garden. That's taken a whole lot of work. First we had to get all of the weeds out of the area and till it, (we didn't do that this week though, we did that before) and then we had to fertilize it. So we had to do soil tests to figure out what needed to be put into the soil, and then actually do it. That part didn't take too long actually. What probably took the longest was raking in the fertilizer once it was in the soil. The good thing was that it was dry, so it wasn't hard. :) Then we had to plow it. Mom decided that instead of doing our stuff in rows, like you would normally do, that we're going to do it in boxes, and put marigolds around the boxes. Apparently marigolds are supposed to detract some bugs or something. Or maybe it was rabbits. I'm not sure. :) So we had to plow the dirt, and then because our soil is so dry here (from lack of rain), we had to get down on our hands and knees and actually form the hills to put the seeds in. That wasn't bad, except for the fact that I had to wear jeans. Anyone who knows me knows I HATE wearing jeans. Like detest them. I don't know why, but I just don't like them. Maybe I just don't like drawing that much attention to my legs. Maybe that's it. I'm really not sure. But anyway, I don't like jeans. This might give you an indication of how often I wear them. So we have these friends who we've known for 10+ years. (Our pastor's family) Last year we went to some fireworks with them, and it was late fall, so it was cold. So Mom suggested that we wear pants. I wasn't too keen on the idea, but I was like 'Ok, yeah, it'll probably be cold. I can do jeans tonight.' So we all get in our jeans and we go. And you know what the first thing I hear out of Azlan's (the pastor's son) mouth is??? "KAYLA!!! YOU'RE IN PANTS!!!!!" Now remember, I've known him for over 10 years now, and he couldn't believe I was in pants. :) That should give you an indication of how often I wear them. But anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. So we have half of the garden plowed, and the other half still to do. We haven't planted anything yet, other than some vegetables you have to start inside. They're actually coming along pretty nicely. I took some pictures, and I'll have to post them soon. They're actually pretty cool. :) It's neat watching stuff grow before your eyes.
I've been having to do a lot of crocheting lately, as always. It seems like every time I finish a blanket, I have a new one to make. Which is fine with me. I don't mind too much. It's certainly helping me save up to go to Alaska this summer. At least I hope I'm going. My friend that I want to go see is in Seattle right now doing mission work, and she won't be back 'till June. She doesn't have time to email, and the phone that I would call her or text her on she left in Alaska for her other siblings to use. So right now I really can't talk to her to find out what's going on. We'll have to see what happens. And even if I don't end up going, I can certainly use the money. I've been wanting to get a laptop sometime in the next year or two. Maybe that could happen. That would really help both my business and my blogging. The only computer we have here (the one I'm on right now) I don't like at all, and so it's kind of a pain in the neck to use. So a laptop would really help. So maybe if I don't get to go to Alaska I can get one. That and a bike. That's something I've been wanting too.....
Oh! By the way, I just found this awesome blog through Etsy. It's called Broken Into Beautiful. I am totally in love with this blog. It's by this lady named Jess who posts really great pictures of her outfits every day. They're really great pictures, and really neat outfits. Some of them are not something I would wear, just because they show a little bit too much skin for my taste, but they've given me lots of great ideas. A bunch of them you look at, and go 'Oh wow. I would NOT have put those together, but that looks amazing!' I especially like the outfit she wore for Easter last week. It was really awesome. So, just thought I'd share for anyone who was interested. :)
We have a LOT of major events going on in the next couple months. 2 weeks from Sunday we have our annual picnic in the park that our church does. It's always amazing. We all go to the park and have our service right there. We barbecue, play baseball and football, do music stuff, and have a blast. I am so looking forward to it. We're going to be there at 8:30 because we're setting up, but the service won't start 'till 10. It'll be interesting to see what the weather will be like. The first year we did it it was freezing, and last year it was like 105*. So we'll have to see what happens this year. :D
We also have the fair coming up the end of this month. Well, actually I think it's the 18th through the 28th. We're going to go to celebrate Hannah's, Jonathan's and David's birthdays. We always go for Hannah's. It's kind of a tradition. And this year it'll be kind of special, since Hannah and I have both entered things into the fair. I entered my blanket, (I'm gonna HAVE to post pictures of it eventually) and Hannah entered a picture she took. We'll have to see what happens. If I don't win anything, I'm perfectly fine with it. It was just a neat experience.
PLUS, we have 2 recitals coming up next month. The homeschool recital that I sung in last year, and Hannah's and my violin recital. I'm still trying to decide whether I'm gonna sing again or not. I'm not sure. I have a song picked out, but I don't know if I'll do it. If I don't sing, then Hannah and I will probably play our violins. For our violin recital, I have no idea what we're doing yet. I won't know for awhile still. Last year we just picked the songs we were working on, and we didn't decide what we were going to do until 2 weeks before. But that worked out fine. It wasn't a big deal. We'll probably do the same this year. Although I have a feeling I know which song I'll be doing. Here's a video off of Youtube of the song.

Oh! One last thing before I sign off. I got my driving permit about 2 weeks ago! :) I'm pretty excited about it. I only got to drive about 3 miles last week, but I've gotten to drive a lot this week. Both Mom and Dad have actually let me drive in town. That doesn't sound like anything special, since we're in a small town, but there's actually a lot of traffic mid-town. We're the only town for miles, so a lot of people stop here on their way through. So there's actually a LOT of traffic in town. I was actually surprised that they let me drive in town so soon. But so far I haven't hit anything. :) Although I did once mistake the gas for the brake. Hehehe. But at least I was coming up to the place that I'd pull out of the parking lot I was in, so I didn't come anywhere close to hitting anything. :D
And I'm realizing as I'm writing this that I REALLY need to change the pictures of all of us on the side of my blog. They're such old pictures. After I post this I'm going to try and find some new pictures to post. Last October we went and did a huge photo shoot at the park down here, and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get some pictures from there. If not, then I'll get Hannah to take some pictures tomorrow. I just got this really pretty outfit this week that I could wear. :)
Hm... I guess that's all for now. In the next couple days I'm going to try and post pictures of Danielle, the blanket for the fair, and the chicken coop and garden.

Randomness
I don't really have anything specific to write about. At least not really. I've been wracking my brain for days to come up with something, and it's just not working. So, I decided to just make up a post with lots of little, random things. Which I suppose that's the way to do it most times. Because if you think about it, life is pretty much made up of little random things, isn't it? :)
Last Thursday I moved into Hannah's room. It used to be that I shared a room with Sarah, and Hannah shared with Annabeth. But now I"m with Hannah and Sarah's with Annabeth. I think I like it this way. I can stay up a lot later than I used to be able to. Sarah had to go to sleep a lot earlier than Hannah does. It's nice. Plus, I think Mom is finally coming to the conclusion that I'm not a little kid, and I can stay up later than 8:30. :D Also, I can listen to books that aren't appropriate for Sarah, but are fine for Hannah. Well, I shouldn't say that they're inappropriate for Sarah. There's nothing wrong with them, they'd just scare her. Because Sarah had a brain injury when she was 2 or 3 and fractured her skull, stuff that used to not scare her will give her nightmares for weeks. :(
Miss Danielle is already 6 weeks old. Can you believe that? I can't. It's amazing. She's so big already. At least compared to when she was born. She's still pretty tiny. :) Right now she's pretty sick. :( She's been having a hard time ever since she was born. She's spitting up all of her food right now, which is pretty rotten. I feel so sorry for her. We were going to go back to the farm on Monday, but that's not going to happen. We've been in town pretty much ever since she was born because it's been too cold at the farm and whenever we went there she got sick. But now she's sick again, and we haven't even been to the farm in awhile. I'm not sure what's going on. So anyway, I guess we'll still be in town for awhile, which is ok. I don't mind being here, but I think I like it there better. Oh well. :) We'll go back eventually.
I've been working on my math lately. I was trying to procrastinate doing it, but it didn't work very well. I figured I was going to graduate this year. Well, that can definitely happen, just not when I thought it would. I was hoping to graduate sometime in April or May, but Mom and I were talking about it, and with hospital bills and taxes and stuff, we probably won't be able to even order my 12th grade until then. So, I made a goal to finish Algebra and Geometry by then. And that's totally doable for me, I just have to do it. So now I guess I'll try and graduate by Christmas. I was hoping to graduate before my 16th birthday, but with that being in July I just don't see it being possible.
I've had a lot of crocheting to do lately. In fact, I actually have rope burns on my hands because of it. And it hurts. :D And that probably sounds really pathetic, but it's true. So that should tell you how much work I've had to do lately. Since last Saturday I've made 6 blankets. 6. Just in case you hadn't noticed, that's a lot. ;) I've been having to stay up really late these past few weeks to keep up with it all. And right now, I have 5 blankets, plus the one I'm making to enter in the fair, to finish by next Saturday. That's the deadline for the fair blanket. I'm 1/3 of the way done with it, but I haven't worked on it in awhile because of orders. But now I HAVE to get it done. I'll post pictures of it when it's finished. I'm really liking the way it's turning out. Plus, I've been thinking of selling these flower blankets in my shop. My mind is constantly full of possibilities for color combos. I love working with color. :) There's this one ripple blanket that I'm making right now that's a custom color combo, and it's SO PRETTY! I love it. I'll have to take pictures and post them when I finish it. It's 2 shades of pink and white, and it has to be my favorite ripple I've ever made. :)
Lately Mom has gotten on somewhat of a makeup kick with me. I used to barely wear anything at all, but now Mom has gotten me some more stuff, and she loves it. I think she's having fun teaching me how to put all of this stuff on. Plus, putting on my eye shadow for me since I can't yet. The one I have right now is plum/green for above my eyes, and silver on my eyelids. Sometimes I think it looks like I got punched in both eyes, but sometimes I like it. Mom started out by getting me brown, but Dad didn't like it, which is why we got the other colors. He likes them, so I'm happy. :)
Lately in our violin lessons our teacher has switched up things. Hannah and I take lessons together, but the problem is that with pretty much everything musically, (except voice) I tend to learn pretty fast. It just comes easily to me. But Hannah has a much harder time than I do. We just learn at different speeds, which makes it hard for the two of us to do our lessons together. I feel like she's slowing me down, and she feels like I'm pushing her to go too fast. So, lately our teacher has been doing things differently to accommodate both of us. We'll start out by doing some stuff together, but then she splits us up. Hannah does some songs, and Miss Anna works with her on those, and then she works with me on some stuff. I think I like it in that we don't have to worry about learning at different speeds, but we both end up doing a lot of sitting. Plus, our lesson is supposed to be over at 1:00, but it's normally at least 1:10 before we're done. So there are pros and cons for it. But overall I think I like it. I can't wait to be done with the book we're in. I've been on this one song at the end of the book for over a month. It's driving me crazy! Oh well. It won't take too long for me to finish it. And Miss Anna said that we'll work on the song after it next week. Yay! I am so tired of that one song. :D
We were supposed to go to my grandma's house today. We were going to go celebrate the winter birthdays in our family. That means Dad, Jonathan, Hannah, David, Danielle and my grandpa. (Of course, we decided that we were going to just have Danielle in the pictures, but not have her get any presents or something. We have so many baby clothes it's sick. :D She has more clothes than I do probably, and we didn't buy any of them. We were given all of them, because we have such awesome friends and family. :)) But, we can't go because Jonathan, Annabeth and Danielle are sick. So, we decided to go sometimes this week. Next weekend might work better, except Nana and Aunt Suzie will be getting ready to go to the Pac-12 tournament in Las Vegas that next week. Plus, we have fellowship. So, we'll probably go Tuesday. That's normally the day we end up going to Nana's for something like this when we can't go on the weekend. I don't know why, but Tuesday seems to be the day. :D I don't know if we'll go to church tonight or not. I know all of us won't go, but it may be that those of us that aren't sick will go. (Dad, me, Hannah, Sarah and David) We'll have to see.

Lately Mom has gotten on somewhat of a makeup kick with me. I used to barely wear anything at all, but now Mom has gotten me some more stuff, and she loves it. I think she's having fun teaching me how to put all of this stuff on. Plus, putting on my eye shadow for me since I can't yet. The one I have right now is plum/green for above my eyes, and silver on my eyelids. Sometimes I think it looks like I got punched in both eyes, but sometimes I like it. Mom started out by getting me brown, but Dad didn't like it, which is why we got the other colors. He likes them, so I'm happy. :)
Lately in our violin lessons our teacher has switched up things. Hannah and I take lessons together, but the problem is that with pretty much everything musically, (except voice) I tend to learn pretty fast. It just comes easily to me. But Hannah has a much harder time than I do. We just learn at different speeds, which makes it hard for the two of us to do our lessons together. I feel like she's slowing me down, and she feels like I'm pushing her to go too fast. So, lately our teacher has been doing things differently to accommodate both of us. We'll start out by doing some stuff together, but then she splits us up. Hannah does some songs, and Miss Anna works with her on those, and then she works with me on some stuff. I think I like it in that we don't have to worry about learning at different speeds, but we both end up doing a lot of sitting. Plus, our lesson is supposed to be over at 1:00, but it's normally at least 1:10 before we're done. So there are pros and cons for it. But overall I think I like it. I can't wait to be done with the book we're in. I've been on this one song at the end of the book for over a month. It's driving me crazy! Oh well. It won't take too long for me to finish it. And Miss Anna said that we'll work on the song after it next week. Yay! I am so tired of that one song. :D
We were supposed to go to my grandma's house today. We were going to go celebrate the winter birthdays in our family. That means Dad, Jonathan, Hannah, David, Danielle and my grandpa. (Of course, we decided that we were going to just have Danielle in the pictures, but not have her get any presents or something. We have so many baby clothes it's sick. :D She has more clothes than I do probably, and we didn't buy any of them. We were given all of them, because we have such awesome friends and family. :)) But, we can't go because Jonathan, Annabeth and Danielle are sick. So, we decided to go sometimes this week. Next weekend might work better, except Nana and Aunt Suzie will be getting ready to go to the Pac-12 tournament in Las Vegas that next week. Plus, we have fellowship. So, we'll probably go Tuesday. That's normally the day we end up going to Nana's for something like this when we can't go on the weekend. I don't know why, but Tuesday seems to be the day. :D I don't know if we'll go to church tonight or not. I know all of us won't go, but it may be that those of us that aren't sick will go. (Dad, me, Hannah, Sarah and David) We'll have to see.

Update
So, it's been awhile, I know. It's not like I've been purposely not blogging, I've just been pretty busy. I mean, I have a baby sister. And that's a good excuse. Come on, admit it. *waits patiently* Thank you. That wasn't so hard, was it?
But, I'm going to try and get back to regular blogging. I actually have written lots of times lately, it's just that that stuff hasn't gotten posted. I can't tell you how many posts I've deleted that had the word 'draft' next to them. It's actually kind of pathetic. But I find blogging... I don't know.... Relaxing in a way. It's nice to get my feelings out on paper (I've started writing posts into a notebook first), to let people know what's going on in my life, to have pictures that my family will one day be able to look at. It's kind of neat to think about. You know, I can't really look at many pictures of my mom, and certainly not my grandma, when they were younger, so I guess a motivation for me to blog is that I'll have a way for future generations to find out about me. Sorry, now I'm just rambling. I tend to do that. :)
Anyway, let me get back to the update. Danielle is a month old now. It's amazing to me how fast she's grown. You know, I know everyone says this, but I seriously think Danielle is the cutest little baby God ever made. I mean really. She's just so sweet! Especially when she's sleeping. But she's adorable when she's awake too. She has big blue eyes, just like the rest of my siblings (I have hazel eyes, and Mom and I are the only ones who do. Everyone else has blue eyes). I'll put pictures at the end of this post so you can see just how cute she is. :)
Let's see. What else can I talk about other than my gorgeous sister? Oh! I know. About 2 weeks ago, my great- great aunt came to visit from Ohio. She'll be staying with my grandparents for 6 weeks. She comes every year around this time. My uncle used to come too, but he died last year. :( So now Aunt Suzie comes. We've seen her 3 times since she came. We saw her the day she came (the 5th), then we saw her twice this week. Actually, I've seen her twice. She and Nana came to pick me up Wednesday after my voice lesson. Nobody else saw her that day. But we all went over to Nana's house on Valentine's Day. We see Nana every year on Valentine's Day. And normally Aunt Suzie is in town, so we get to see her too. That's always nice. Anyway, it's nice to have her here. She'll be here for our winter birthday party, which we're all excited about. I believe the party is next Sunday. My grandpa, Dad, Jonathan, Hannah, David and Danielle will all be included. Normally my aunt and uncle would be part of it too, but they recently moved to Phoenix, and they won't be able to make it.
I've been listening to some really great audiobooks lately. I have lots of great books, but lately I haven't had the time to read them, so I've been listening to books instead. I found an app for my phone where you sign in to your library account, and you can borrow audiobooks from the library just like you would borrow books. You just download them right onto your phone. It's really neat. The app is called 'Overdrive' for anyone who's interested. I've listened to 'The Hunger Games, 'Heaven is for Real', and now I'm listening to 'Piercing the Darkness' by Frank Peretti. We have that book (2 copies actually), but I've never gotten around to reading it . But I found it on Overdrive and I really like it so far. Frank Peretti is a really great author. I LOVE mystery stories, but I've never been able to find appropriate mystery books. Then I found Frank Peretti's books. I knew who he was, (I'd seen a tv show he stared in and I'd heard him speak) and I knew he wrote books, but I'd never read them before. And I'm really glad I did. And I actually have a question. Has anyone heard of Terri Blackstock? She's supposed to write Christian mystery/suspense books just like Peretti. I've never read any of her books, but I'd like to.
I've been doing a lot of crocheting lately. Right now I have 7 blankets to make. I really like doing this and all, but sometimes it's tiring. Lately I've been telling myself that if I want to listen to Piercing the Darkness, then I have to be crocheting while I do it. :) Although I do really want to finish these orders because I want to enter a blanket in the Pima County Fair this year. My aunt suggested it and I think it's a good idea. Here's a picture I got on Etsy. I'm still trying to decide what colors to use. Any suggestions? The deadline to mail it is March 9th, so I'll have to hurry. :)
