Our Thanksgiving

Hi everyone! Sorry this post is a little late, but I had some catching up to do on my blogging first. This post will be pretty much all writing, because I don't think any pictures were taken.

We must have had one of the craziest Thanksgivings ever this year. Normally we all go to my Nana and Papa's house, (my mom's parents) but this year we've added seven people to our family: My uncle's son moved here last January and he has a his girlfriendand with 3 children.  Also, my dad's little brother and his wife just moved here from New Jersey a few weeks ago. So, my dad's parents decided it would be better to have their own celebration.

So first we went to my Nana and Papa's house. It was kind of strange not having half our family there, but it was still fun. The company and the food were wonderful.

After we left there, we went to my uncle's house, where my dad's side of the family had their Thanksgiving dinner. By the time we got there, (it was about 3:00 in the afternoon) only my aunt and uncle and grandparents were there. Now,  I haven't seen in my uncle in 11 years, and I'd never met my aunt, so it was kind of strange. They're really nice though. The only bad part was that they had 5 cats, and I'm allergic to cats. Thankfully, they stayed out of the way, so it wasn't that bad.

Well, after we left there, (about 4:15) we went to a friend's house. Dad just got an Ipad last Wednesday to try and help him do his work more easily, but he was having some problems accomplishing what he needed to. Mr. Goodale is THE computer guy, especially for Mac products so before we went to Nana's house, we dropped off the ipad so he could look at it  (it took him 15 minutes to do what it took Dad 3 hours to not do) I think the reason is that Dad and Itunes don't see eye to eye, and that's what he was having problems with.  Apparently he had to download a new operating system through Itunes and our desktop wasn't playing nice . So, after we left my uncle's house, we went back to pick it up.

The Goodale's daughter, her husband, and their 2 kids were in town for the holidays, so we got to see them. Their children are 2 and 1, and Hannah absolutely loves them. We also got to visit with Timothy and Melonie Reeves and little Calvin.  We had missed the other two Reeves families which was disappointing.  Anyway, we hung out for a while.  After that we went home, absolutely exhausted. So, like I said, it was one of the busiest Thanksgivings ever for our family!

On Friday we had some people over to the farm again to do some more shooting. Mrs. Goodale got the shooting bug from when she visited a couple weeks ago, so when they heard we were going to Willcox, they decided to come back down in the afternoon and do some more shooting.  Their daughter and her family came too!

Dad had a handgun that he wanted to shoot, so we went over to a friend's house near there to shoot in their pump-back ditch. (the handguns shoot to far for us to be doing it on our property) Thank you K family.  It was fun, except it was REALLY windy at their house. I spent most of the time  feeding Asher and Sophie (the 2 and 1 year old) goldfish in the car. They absolutely loved that. After we left there, we went back to our house to shoot the regular shotguns, eat and visit for the rest of the afternoon.   So, after another tiring day, we went home, again.

Saturday afternoon Nana, Dad, Jonathan, Hannah, Sarah and I went to the last U of A football game of the season. We won, which was good. It was kind of nice, because after the game was over, Nick Foles, who was our senior quarterback went and gave his dad a big hug.

Nothing more really interesting has happened since then. Sunday we went to church, yesterday we went and babysat some friend's of ours because the parents had to go to the doctor, and today Hannah and Jonathan had an orthodontist appointment. Hannah was just getting her montly checkup, and Jonathan was getting some x-rays before he gets braces next week. (the 6th)

And that's all for this post!

I've figured out something.....

I'M REALLY BAD AT THIS WHOLE BLOGGING THING!!!!!

Note: This post was written last night

Wow. I'll be shocked if any of you still even check my blog. I don't know what's wrong with me. Every time we have something exciting happen, I have every intention of posting about it..... and then i just never get around to it. But please bear with me, 'cause I'm going to try to post on a regular basis.

Right now while I'm typing this, (it's 6:24 pm) Jonathan happens to be on a sleepover at my Nana and Papa's house. Well, technically he's at Mckale center (the U of A wildcat's basketball court) getting ready to watch a game. My grandma gets season tickets every year, and then schedules our sleepovers on days so that we can go to a basketball game. It's a lot of fun. So, while he's there, Mom and Dad went on a date! I know for some people this is a weekly thing, but for my parents, it's about a yearly thing. (no, I'm not kidding) I feel so sorry for them. But with Dad's work schedule and Mom having all of us to take care of, (this is only the second time I've stayed home with both of them gone after dark) it was just not fathomable. But today they got to go!!!!! I'm so happy for them. I have no idea where they're going, or how long they're going to be there, but I'm glad they get to go.

Let's see.... not to many big things have happened to us in the month since I've posted, just lots of little things. Hannah and I started taking violin lessons about 2 months ago, which has been great. (have I posted about this before? I don't remember) Our teacher is so nice, and I love learning about the violin. So far I haven't really learned anything new about how to actually play the violin, because I already knew some about that. Most of it is technique. That's what Mom says is the most important part, and the biggest reason we're taking the lessons. I don't mind, because I look at it that the more she teaches me, the more I'll be able to teach the younger kids when they're old enough, because all 3 of them want to learn. I think Jonathan is the only one who doesn't want to learn. But he's got piano, guitar and banjo.

Part of the reason I haven't posted is because for 2 weeks this last month we've been at the farm, where I didn't have any internet access. But, while we were down there, 2 things happened. 1) Our 18 1/2 acres of weeds were cleared! So now, we only have very small portions left that Dad couldn't get to with the tractor. While we were there, we met this really nice person named Mr. Tingle who lives there. This is how you know you have really nice neighbors, when 3 days after meeting them they let you borrow a tractor! I was shocked. And so now, our property looks WAY better than it did. It's probably the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Dad spend all afternoon working on it, and cleared as much as he possibly could. His leg was killing him for 2 days after that, but he's fine now.

The second thing thing that happened was we had some wonderful friends out for the day! It was great. Jonathan and his friend Will went to the very back of our property to an old junk pile out there looking for things to build a fort, almost everybody went out skeet shooting, and we just plain had a blast. Unfortunately, I can't get pictures to load right now, but I'll try and post those again in the next few days.

Well, that's all for right now! I'll post something Thanksgiving-related tomorrow.

Love,
Kayla
