About Me

Hi! My name is Kayla, and I'm an 18 year old living in the Southwest. I am the oldest of 7 children: Jonathan (16), Hannah (14), Sarah (11), David (9), Annabeth (8), and Danielle (2). I love the Lord with all my heart, and I try to please him in everything I do. I'm certainly not perfect, but I try!

I live in southern Arizona, 90 miles away from the nearest city. The town I live in is little, but it's perfect. It's got a Safeway, a McDonalds, a Family Dollar, a post office, and pretty much everything else you could need. The only thing it doesn't have is a Walmart... Gee, that would make it amazing!!! :) It's a small town filled with mostly elderly people. Everyone knows each other, and when you go to someone's house, count on being there for hours!!! I love it here, and I don't think you could pay me to move. :)

Our house is an interesting story. See, we first bought it almost 9 years ago. It was completely and totally gutted because of water damage. Like pretty much this house was just a shell. Yet we fell in love with it immediately, and started working on it the weekend after we bought it. It took 5 years, but we finally moved here in October of 2012. And let me tell you, those 5 years felt like forever. We had to do all the flooring, the walls, the electricity, the plumbing... Everything. And our house sure does have character. Everything is crooked. The walls, the ceiling, the floors... My dad says he wants to punch the guy who first built this house. :) And yet, I love it.

The house is on 18 1/2 acres. We have 2 horses (Huey and Shiloh), and 50 or so chickens. Plans are being made to get cows too, but I don't know how long that'll take before it happens. We've tried planting a garden a couple of times, but it hasn't really worked out. The grasshoppers really, really liked all the nice, green, growing plants. :D

I'm (basically) a homeschool graduate. I only have one subject left, which is math, which happens to be my least favorite subject. I'm taking finishing that one a little slowly. :D

I was employed at Safeway, but recently quit. I used to love it, but it just became too stressful, and I didn't enjoy it anymore, so I decided to be done. For now I'm going to continue with my business that I had earlier, and if that doesn't work, then I'll see what else God has in store for me!

About my business: For over 5 years now, I've been running a business on Etsy. I sell baby blankets that I've crocheted. It's a lot of fun, but stressful at times. I started with one blanket: a light pink one with a scalloped edge, and it's grown from there. Now I've had over 1,000 sales, with over 100 items in my shop. I constantly look back and go "Who knew?" God has blessed me so much in this, and I'm so thankful for it.

I also take voice lessons every week. I've been doing that for almost 4 years now I think, and I love it. I was taking violin up until a couple of months ago, but I stopped doing that for several reasons. I still love to play, and continue to learn. 

I'm also in a relationship with the best guy ever, Ben. He makes me feel like an absolute princess, and I'm so blessed to have him in my life. <3
