A pretty long post

Wow. It's been a long 3 days. Gosh. There's so much to write that by the time you get about halfway done reading it you may be asleep. :) But, I'm going to try and relate the past few days without boring you to death. :)

Thursday started bright and early. About 5:15 for most of us. We all woke up, and Mom and Dad got ready to go to the hospital. They left about 6:30, and the rest of us had breakfast and got ready. At 9:00, our grandma came to pick us up. First she took us to Walmart because I needed to get some yarn to finish the blanket I've been making for Danielle (I'll get pictures of it eventually and post them). After we left Walmart we went to her house. We had grilled cheese and played the Wii (while I finished the blanket), and at about 11:30 we got ready and she took us to music lessons. While all of this is going on, we've talked to Dad several times. Mom's c-section was originally scheduled for 9:30, but the anesthesiologist was doing another delivery at the time, so she wasn't available. So they bumped it back to 11:00. Then, one of the other doctors wasn't ready, and Mom's OB had other stuff to do, and couldn't wait, so they bumped it back again to about 2.

So Nana took us to our lessons. Dad was going to, but because they bumped it back so far, he couldn't. So she took us. Hannah and I didn't have violin lesson this week, so we just hung out at the MacDonald's house while the other kids had their piano lessons.

After lessons, we went back to Nana's house. About 2:30 Dad texted me... "21 inches, 6lbs 4 oz" (although later he texted me and said "oops. 19 inches") :) We stayed at Nana's house until Mom was out of recovery, and somewhere between 4 and 4:30 Dad came and picked us up. First we went to get dinner (well actually I didn't eat. I just was there pacing back and forth outside because I was so excited) and then we went to the hospital. When we first got there Danielle was in the nursery. I guess she had just had a bath or something and they needed to warm her up. So, we had to wait before Dad was finally able to bring her into Mom's room. Gosh she is so cute! We all got to take turns holding her. Annabeth started, being a big sister for the first time and all. Anyway, we left the hospital probably about 7:30 and got home around 8.

Friday morning Hannah, David and I spent the day here while everyone else went to the farm. You see, there was something wrong with our water down there, and Dad needed to go look at it. The good thing was we were planning on being in town anyway, so we could be close to the hospital. So we got things cleaned up, watched a little I Love Lucy and the Andy Griffith show, and just hung out. After everyone else came back we all got ready and went to the hospital again. Mom was having a hard time yesterday. I guess the nurses were really busy and so they weren't able to give Mom her pain medications when she needed them. (Remember people, she was sliced open) So she was in a lot of pain while we were there. Plus, we had to stand in the hallway for about 20 minutes. I guess they were doing something to Mom and Danielle and we had to leave. We didn't stay too long overall. Plus, Danielle was crying her head off yesterday. When we were there Thursday she didn't make a sound, but gosh. Apparently she found her voice. :) So we went home and let the 2 of them rest.

Today we were woken up by Dad. Apparently Mom had called him and wanted him to go get her and take her home. She wasn't quite ready to come home yet, but she was getting tired of being in so much pain because the nurses weren't on top of things. And Dad said that it has happened every single time. So Dad left about 7:30, while the rest of us stayed home to get the house ready. They came back probably around 12:45 (lots of paperwork and stuff to do at the hospital). Mom has been trying to rest all day. She's gotten a little bit of rest, but not much. Danielle has been crying quite a bit today, but thankfully she's also don't quite a bit of sleeping. Earlier this afternoon we put her in the day seat and brought her into the girls room so she could sleep where it was a little bit quieter. Well, Hannah and Sarah decided to bring blankets and sleep with her. :) I got a picture, although at the time none of them were actually sleeping. :)
Although right now Blogger is not being very cooperative and so it'll have to wait until tomorrow. *scolds Blogger inwardly*

Hope this was interesting, and hopefully I didn't bore you to death. Happy Birthday Danielle!!!

  1. Thanks for the great post, Kayla, and all the wonderful pictures! Danielle looks so cute and you all will love on her so much. I am so sorry for your mom and the pain she had to deal with - hospitals are no fun, and life is so much better once you get home. Hopefully the meds. have made her feel better today. I'm sure all of you will take care of things at the house and let your mom get lots of rest! Again, give your whole family our best wishes!
