Memorial Day Weekend for the Cameron Family

Hi all! Happy Memorial Day! We've had a pretty busy weekend. Dad's been home since Saturday, which was really nice.

This weekend we did a lot of yard work. We've been so busy that it's been sitting there for a long time. So, we spent a lot of time Friday through Sunday working on weeds. It's getting better, though there's still a lot to do. I did manage to snap a few pictures.

Doesn't David just have the CUTEST smile ever?!

This is a picture of the workshop that Dad built a few years ago. It's almost as big as our house! (ok, not really, but it's really big)

Compacting the weeds in the truck so we could fit more in.

He's just so cute that I had to take more than one picture. This is him standing next to the weed pile that we made after the truck was jam-packed.

This is Serena (our dog) playing with the neighbor's dog, Belle. They just run up and down the fence for 15 minutes.

Jonathan was having a lot of fun jumping up and down.

This is the new gate that Dad built for the side of the house out of an old, broken bunk bed. The one that we had was falling apart. (literally)  He'll paint this one, of corse.

And of course, another picture of Thumper.

On Sunday we went to church. It was SO nice to see all of our friends again. Our family has missed 3 weeks of church. 2 of them were because of being gone, and Mother's Day we were at my grandma's house. So it was so nice to go to church again.

Shearing:

This morning we got the alpacas shorn. Lacy, (our shearer) came with her dad and a friend of hers. I missed the shearing, because I went to the store with Mom, but Hannah took some pictures.

This is Manny, the 2-year-old cria (that's what alpaca babies are called) before he was shorn.

Right to left: Lacy, Aaron, and Mr. Robinson

Sally and Caroline. Sally's the mom, Caroline's the 1-year-old cria.

Look at how ridiculous Manny looked after he was shorn. I'm glad I'm not an alpaca. I don't think I'd go anywhere until winter when my fleece would have grown back.

Apparently the had to carry Sally because she was being so stubborn.

This picture makes me laugh. Manny is the most curious animal I've ever seen. He'll check out everything.

Manny and Sally fussing because they are separated from Caroline.

Grilling:

Dad and Mom made the most amazing Memorial Day dinner ever. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, shells and cheese, beans, coleslaw, and chips. (Really healthy, isn't it?)

Annabeth is really interesting when we're taking pictures of her. She'll say 'cheese', but unless you say "Annabeth, smile!" She doesn't. It's very interesting.

And of course, another picture of David.

Hannah LOVES to make faces when you're taking a picture, and this is one of them.

Mom and Dad eating while watching "League of Grateful Sons" by Vision Forum. It seemed like a very appropriate Memorial Day video.

I FINALLY got a good picture of me. All of the other ones that I have are with someone else. This is the first good one of just me.

Well, that's all for now. Hope you have a blessed Memorial Day!

Getting back to everyday life

Hi everyone! We're finally getting back to everyday life. It's nice to be able to cook at home again. Cooking is one of my favorite things to do, and I was able to cook about 2 things the whole trip. So, it's been nice to have home made meals again.

Not much has been going on recently. We put the alpacas on craigslist a few weeks ago, and Wednesday a couple came to look at them. We haven't heard from them yet, though. Speaking of the alpacas, some people are coming to shear them on Monday. It's pretty neat to watch. So, I'll have some pictures from that.

Monday was a really nice day for me, because I sold 2 blankets! You can imagine how excited I was when I saw the email with the title "congradulations on your order for $40.91 from xxxxxxx".  It's kind of funny, because this is the first time that I've actually gotten to see the email telling me that I sold a blanket. It's always been Jonathan or Mom who discovers it.

Also, here's something that I'm making for Sarah out of plastic canvas. It's meant to be for Barbie dolls, but since we have chosen not to have Barbie's in the house, (and even if we did I wouldn't play with them anyway) Sarah's going to use it with her "Loving Family" small dolls.

Just to give you an idea of how big this is, this is the footboard, and this is my hand.

Well, that's all for now.

We're FINALLY home!

We just got home earlier this afternoon. Hooray! Vacation was SO nice while it lasted, but I'm ready to get back to normal everyday life.

Sorry everyone that I wasn't able to post pictures while we were at the cabin, but now I can post pictures.

So, since it looks like no one else is going to comment, I may as well tell you where I got my necklace. Yes, Rachel, most of the necklaces at Disney Land had Disney characters on it, but I didn't get it at Knott's Berry. Would you believe that I got it at Sea World?! I know. It seems really wierd to have that kind of necklace at Sea World, but that's where it was. I actually was going to get a hand blown glass dolphin necklace, but it was a little out of my price range, so I decided to get that. I love it.

We had a great time at the cabin. Yesterday we went to the White River. It was so special for my Mom because she used to go there camping once or twice a year for about 12 years as a kid. We even parked right where she used to camp. We tried to go fishing, but we didn't know that us kids' needed a license, so we only got Dad one. But I guess since it's on a Indian reservation, everyone has to get licenses. So, we just decided to walk along the river for a while. On the way back, there was a road block in the road. Apparently there were some drunk drivers, so we had to wait for a while while the police took care of them. But we finally got through, and went back to the cabin. After a while Dad, Hannah, Sarah and I went fishing, and once again caught nothing. Dad got a bite this time, but he was busy paying attention to Hannah and Sarah, so he missed it. Dad grilled hamburgers and hotdogs last night. It was a lot of fun. Dad's been so busy working that we never grill anymore. I cannot tell you how nice it's been to have Dad around this week. I miss him. He wakes up in the morning, gets in the shower, and leaves. He doesn't get home until about 5 or 6  at night, sits down on his bed, and works on all of his paperwork until about 8:30. I barely see him anymore. It's been so refreshing to have him around.

Friday night we roasted marshmallows. It was a lot of fun. The problem was that we bought marshmallows at Walmart, and they are HUGE! I'll post pictures later in this post. We could barely fit them into our mouthes. Last night we were going to roast more, (this time Mom bought smaller marshmallows) but it was really late, so we cheated. We made them in the microwave. I know, it's pathetic, but we didn't have any other choice.

This morning we went fishing for the last time. I don't know what's wrong, but for some reason we didn't catch one fish all week. Oh well. At least there's next time.

We left shortly before 11:00, and like I said, got here this afternoon. The trip home was ok, except for Salt River Canyon. That's the third time that I've gone through it, and I've gotten sick every time. Before we left last week, we dropped of Dad's work truck, and we had to go pick it up today. When we got here, my Grandma was here feeding the alpacas, so we got to see her. That was nice.

Well, here's the picutres.

Marshmallow roasting:

Isn't she so cute?!!!

This is a perfect picture to show how BIG the marshmallows are. David had no idea how to press the graham crackers together.

This is such a cool picture. The marshmallow was completely on fire.

Knott's Berry Farm:

This was a ride that went up and down, and you can tell that they loved it!

We got SO many sibling pictures.

This was the roller coaster that we went on a bazillion times.

Disney Land:

White River:

This is a picture of us standing right between the two trees that Mom used to hang a hammock from. It was pretty special to get this picture.

Well, what do you think? Pretty fun, huh? Please comment and let me know what you think!
